Hurricane Maria has left a trail of destruction in the Caribbean after making landfall since 18 September 2017.
We've created a best estimate for the extent of pluvial and fluvial flooding so far, using detailed information about flooded locations and severities across the impacted area from JBA's US flood maps. Also available is a storm surge footprint of the extent of flooding to Puerto Rico, the surrounding US Virgin Islands and Guadeloupe.
Although now downgraded to a Category 3 hurricane, Maria is expected to cause widespread flooding and raise water levels 4-6ft above normal in the Dominican Republic, where it's forecast to hit on Thursday 21 September. We'll keep you posted with any newly available data.
